Tagore Award for Cultural Harmony
The President, Ram Nath Kovind will be presenting the Tagore Award for Cultural Harmony at Pravasi Bhartiya Kendra in New Delhi on February 18, 2019. The award will be presented to Shri Rajkumar Singhajit Singh; Chhayanaut (a cultural organization of Bangladesh); and Shri Ram Sutar Vanji for the years 2014, 2015 & 2016 respectively. PM Narendra Modi will be present at the occasion to felicitate the awardees.
Ghumot Declared as Heritage Instrument of Goa
Ghumot is an indigenous earthen drum with the skin of the monitor lizard forming a drumhead. It was banned by the Forest Department of Goa due to the use of monitor lizard skin in its making. The Art and Culture Minister of Goa, Govind Gaude announced that the Ghumot will be notified as a "heritage instrument of Goa". The announcement was made on February 11, 2019.
Early Ed Asia Conference 2019
The largest early childhood conference of Asia was held in Jaipur on February 12-13, 2019. This was the first time such a conference was held in India. EarlyED Asia 2019 was one of the largest international conferences devoted to modern childhood issues attended by academicians, practitioners, and policymakers from across Asia. The motto of the conference was ‘Our Children. Our Future’.
