Terrorist Attack in Pulwama, J&K

A suicide bomber drove up a car next to a security convoy and triggered a blast on February 14, 2019. The car was carrying 60 kg of RDX explosives and resulted in the death of 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel. This heinous act of terror took place on the Jammu Srinagar National Highway at Lethpora (near Awantipora) in the Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir. Pakistan-based Islamist militant group Jaish-e-Mohammed has claimed responsibility for the attack.

 

Vayu Shakti 2019 in Pokhran

Vayu Shakti is a firepower demonstration by the Indian Air Force conducted once in three years. It is participated by fighters, transports, helicopters, force enablers and support systems. The demonstration, Vayu Shakti 2019 took place at the Pokhran firing range in Rajasthan on February 16, 2019.

 

Andhra Pradesh to Have Country's First District Cooling System

Transfer India's first district cooling system will soon be set up in Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh. The Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) has entered into a 30-year concession agreement with UAE-based cooling solutions utility National Central Cooling Company PJSC (Tabreed). The cooling capacity of this system is to be 20,000 refrigeration tons (RTs).

 

National Minimum Wage of Rs. 375 a day

Minimum wages in India are decided by state governments as of now. However, a government panel has recommended that a national minimum wage now be set. The suggested amount is Rs. 375 per day or Rs. 9,750 per month plus an additional housing allowance of ₹1,430 per month for workers in cities.

 

International Dam Safety Conference 2019

The 5th International Dam Safety Conference 2019 was held in Bhubaneshwar, Odisha on February 13-14, 2019. It was inaugurated by the State Water Resources Minister Niranjan Pujari and Union Water Resources & Ganga Rejuvenation Secretary U.P. Singh. The conference was a part of the Dam Rehabilitation and Improvement Project (DRIP) assisted by World Bank.

 

India's First Fish and Marine Products Processing Park in Andhra Pradesh

A mega park of 57.81 acres at a cost of Rs 122.60 crore will soon come up at Tundurru Village in Bhimavaram Mandal of West Godavari District, Andhra Pradesh. It has been commissioned by the Union Minister of Food Processing Industries Harsimrat Kaur Badal. The Godavari Mega Aqua Food Park will be the first Mega Aqua Food Park operational exclusively for fish and marine products processing in the state of Andhra Pradesh.

 

India's Fastest Train Flagged Off by PM

India's first semi-high speed, Train 18 renamed Vande Bharat Express was flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the New Delhi railway station on February 15, 2019. The train can run up to a maximum speed of 160 kmph and will travel from Delhi to Varanasi in nine hours, forty-five minutes.

 

International Oil & Gas Conference and Exhibition

PM Narendra Modi inaugurated the PETROTECH-2019 conference held at India Expo Centre in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh from February 10-12, 2019. PETROTECH conference is a biennial International Oil & Gas Conference. The 13th edition of International Oil & Gas Conference and Exhibition, PETROTECH-2019 was organized by Oil & Natural Gas Corporation Limited, under the aegis of Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.

 

National Law University To Come Up in Uttarakhand

 

The government has decided to set up a national law university in Uttarakhand, admission to which will be through Common Law Admission Test (CLAT).  The announcement was made by the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Trivendra Singh Rawat.
