Gaganyaan Project Cost Approved

The Union Cabinet approved Rs 10,000 crore for the Gaganyaan mission on December 28, 2018. Gaganyaan will send a three-member crew to space for at least seven days, by 2022. The project was announced by the Prime Minister in his Independence Day speech in 2018.

 

Mobile Audio Guide App for Five Heritage Sites

The Union Minister of State (I/C) for Tourism K J Alphons,  handed over a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to M/s Resbird Technologies on December 27, 2018. The MoU is for the development of a mobile Audio Guide App for five iconic sites. This was done under the 'Adopt a Heritage: Apni Dharohar, Apni Pehchaan' project which is a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Culture, Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), and State/UTs Governments. These five sites are; Amer Fort (Rajasthan), Kaziranga (Assam), Colva Beach (Goa), Kumarakom (Kerala) and Mahabodhi Temple (Bihar).

 

National Commission for Homeopathy Bill to be Set up

The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved the draft National Commission for Homoeopathy Bill 2018 on December 28, 2018. The bill seeks to replace the existing regulator Central Council for Homoeopathy (CCH) with a new body to ensure transparency.

 

National Children's Science Congress

The 26th edition of the National Children’s Science Congress was inaugurated by the Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in Bhubaneswar on December 27, 2018. There are as many as 800 students from ten Asian and seven Gulf countries participating in it. The theme this year is ‘Science, Technology and Innovations: For clean, green and healthy nation’.

 

Approval for Setting up National Commission for Indian System of Medicine

 

The draft National Commission for Indian System of Medicine Bill 2018 was approved by the Union Cabinet on December 28, 2018. This will replace the existing regulator Central Council for Indian Medicine (CCIM) and also promote availability of affordable healthcare services in all parts of the country.
