World Heart Day Celebrated

The World Heart Day is celebrated on September 29, every year, since 2011. Before that, it was celebrated on the last Sunday of September. It is observed in order to spread awareness about heart diseases.

World Rabies Day Observed

The death anniversary on September 28, of renowned French microbiologist and chemist, Louis Pasteur is celebrated as World Rabies Day. It is in honour of the vaccine that he created against rabies.

Mangalyaan Celebrates Four Years of Orbiting Mars

India’s first interplanetary mission, ISRO’s Mangalyaan, successfully started orbiting Mars on September 24, 2014. It had an expected life of 6 months but has successfully completed 4 years circling Mars and acquiring nearly a 1000 images of the red planet.

CEDA Inaugurated in New Delhi

The Union Minister for IT, Ravi Shankar Prasad, inaugurated the Centre of Excellence for Data Analytics (CEDA) on September 28, 2018. It is a joint initiative between the National Informatics Centre (NIC) and National Informatics Centre Services Incorporated (NICSI).

Top Indian Institute for a Fifth Year

The Times Higher Education World University Rankings has placed the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore at the top of Indian institutes for a fifth year in 2018. IIT Indore, IIT Bombay and IIT Roorkee, follow in the Indian rankings. The first in the rankings is Oxford University, with Cambridge, Stanford and MIT following behind.
