Pankaj Advani Clinches Asian Snooker Tour Title
Pankaj Advani won the inaugural Asian Snooker Tour title at Bengaluru in Karnataka on April 25, 2019. He defeated Ehsan Heydari Nezhad of Iran 6-4.
Indian Boxers Secure 13 Medals for India at Asian Boxing Championships
The Asian Boxing Championships held in Bangkok saw Indian boxers securing 13 medals for the country. Two gold, four silver and seven bronze medals were taken by India in the tournament which was held simultaneously for men and women for the first time. Amit Panghal (52kg) picked up his second successive gold medal of the year defeating Korea’s Kim Inkyu. Pooja Rani (81kg) clinched the second gold medal for the country defeating the reigning world champion Wang Lina of China.
Gold for India in Shooting World Cup
16-year-old Saurabh Chaudhary and 17-year-old Manu Bhaker won gold in the 10m Air Pistol mixed team event at the ISSF World Cup 2019 in Beijing. This is the second consecutive gold for the duo at the ISSF World Cup. They had both bagged the gold in the same category during the World Cup held in New Delhi in February, 2019.
Asian Wrestling Championships 2019
The world’s No. 1 wrestler, Indian Bajrang Punia took the gold at the Asian Wrestling Championships in the 65kg freestyle category. He defeated Kazakhstan's Sayatbek Okassov 12-7 in the final. Indian wrestlers Praveen Rana and Satyavrat Kadian bagged silver and bronze respectively, in the 97kg category.
First Italian to Win ATP Masters 1000 Title
31-year-old Fabio Fognini became the first Italian to win an ATP Masters 1000 title after defeating Dusan Lajovic of Serbia at the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters in Monte Carlo on April 21, 2019. Fognini beat Rafael Nadal in the semi-final.
