The International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women was observed on November 25, 2018. The date marks the launch of 16 days of activism that will conclude on the International Human Rights Day on December 10, 2018.
India and Australia sign Agreements
The two countries signed five agreements on November 22, 2018. The pacts will enhance cooperation to boost investments, scientific collaboration, and agricultural research and education. These were signed during the talks held between Indian President Ram Nath Kovind and Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison in Sydney, Australia.
WTO to Address Complaints Against US Tariffs
The World Trade Organisation (WTO) has agreed to set up a panel to address the complaints of various countries over the revised steel and aluminium tariffs of the US. The Dispute Settlement Body (DSB) of WTO approved the constitution of panels and also agreed for a separate panel to review Chinese measures for protection of intellectual property rights.
International Space Station is 20 Years Old
The International Space Station (ISS) completed 20 years on November 20, 2018. The ISS is an iconic habitable artificial satellite currently serving as a giant orbiting observatory and laboratory.
UN Global Compact for Migration Turned Down by Australia
The Australian Government will not be signing the UN Global Compact for Migration as it will undermine Australia’s existing immigration policies. The Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison made the announcement on November 21, 2018.
