This MBA entrance exam will have four sections: Decision Making, Verbal & Logical Ability, Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation, and General Knowledge.
Total questions in each section:
- Decision Making - 22
- Verbal & Logical Ability - 26
- Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation - 27
- General Knowledge- 25
XAT marking scheme is a bit different from other competitive exams. In addition to the negative marking for wrong attempts, there is negative marking for unattempted questions beyond a certain number. For the last two years, the number of negative marking for unattempted questions was 12, which might change this year. However, there is no negative marking for the General Knowledge section.
XAT 2019 Marking System:
- Right answer – 1 mark each
- Wrong answer – ¼ negative marks
- Unattempted questions – Penalty of 0.05 marks per question if the maximum of 12 questions left unattempted
As you can see, in XAT there is negative marking for both wrong and unattempted questions, you need to work on both your accuracy and speed. Ensure that you cover complete syllabus without focusing just on the important topics. As far as mock tests are concerned, look for a site that follows the similar marking system as of XAT 2019.
