Daily Routine Plan to Follow for SSC CHSL Tier 1 Examination


Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is a Government of India organization which conducts exams to recruit candidates for several posts. Every year, the organization recruits candidates to fill the vacant posts in many departments. Candidates from all over the country, looking for government jobs, apply for SSC examinations to start a good career. Combined Higher Secondary Level (CHSL) is an examination conducted by SSC every year for recruitment of the posts in government departments and ministries such as sorting assistant/postal assistants, lower divisional clerk, data entry operator, court clerk etc.

SSC CHSL Exam Pattern Tier 1

  • Every SSC CHSL aspirant must be well aware of the exam pattern of SSC CHSL so that she/he can create a study plan. Tier 1 of SSC CHSL examination is a computer-based examination.
  • The exam comes with 60 minutes of time duration. But there is no sectional time which means the candidates can easily switch between the sections.
  • The exam comes with negative marketing for every wrong answer. One wrong answer will deduct 0.50 marks.
  • All the questions will be multiple type questions.

Daily Routine Plan to Follow for SSC CHSL Tier 1 Exam

When it comes to preparing for an examination, it is very important to follow a predesigned daily routine. This will not only provide you with a structured blueprint for your daily activities but will also help you manage your time in the most efficient way. 

You must start your day early with meditation and exercise followed by heavy breakfast before you start your daily preparation for SSC CHSL 2020 exam.

Make a habit to read the newspaper thoroughly on a daily basis as it will help you acquire knowledge about the current affairs.

After completing the newspaper reading for an hour or so, go for the English language section for at least two hours as it will provide you with a sense of flow and a smooth transition after knowing what is currently happening in the world.

Take a break for half an hour and relax your mind and body. Have a light lunch to avoid laziness and go for a walk for 15 to 20 minutes.

The next section, Quantitative Aptitude, requires your undivided attention as you need to be more focused and accurate to ace this section. Segregate the chapters based on the concepts and start solving questions from easiest to toughest. You must have a stipulated time for each chapter as it will help you increase your speed. Allot this section at least 3 hours a day.

Once you are done with the Quantitative Aptitude, take a break for an hour and indulge yourself in some sports or physical activities.

After the break, go for the General Intelligence and Reasoning section. Follow the similar guidelines as followed for Quantitative Aptitude section. Solve as many questions as you can in the stipulated time. 

Take a break, watch a few news channels to keep yourself updated with what is happening around the world before taking a test of everything that you have learnt throughout the day. Take previous years’ question papers and take a note of your strengths and weaknesses while solving them.

English Language Preparation Tips for SSC CHSL 2020 Tier 1 

As discussed in the English syllabus pattern, the candidate is required to have a stronghold on the grammar and a decent vocabulary. For this, reading English newspaper every day will arm you up with needed skills.

Preparing Grammar rules will save a lot of time in the examinations which can be devoted to some tough sections. For many students who don’t come from an English background, this section can create trouble affecting the overall performance.

When you start solving the passage, make sure that you read and understand completely. Practise passages every day as many as you can, depending on your time. Learning antonyms and synonyms every day of new words will sharpen your skills.

Quantitative Aptitude SSC CHSL Preparation Tips 

This is a scoring section where practice will help you easily and quickly score good marks. The questions will be asked from the higher secondary level only. 

 Learn trigonometry; learn the values of theta and their values at various angles. 

 You should be good at tables, at least up to 20. 

 Don’t go for shortcuts at first. Learn the methods and then devise shortcuts.

General Awareness SSC CHSL Preparation Tips 

This section is hard to be practised in the matter of a few days. Everyday practice is the only key. Keeping an eye on the news is a good start. 

Read about major battles, dynasties, religions, reforms, movements, acts, etc. 

Read about General Policy including fundamental rights, budget, parliament, powers, appointments, ministries, elections etc.

For practising geography, read about culture, soils, major rivers, waterfalls and lakes, trade & transport, atmosphere, deserts, grasslands, universe etc. 

For practising economics, reading about the budgeting process, agricultural subsidies, SEBI, World Bank, IMF, banking, inflation, GDP/GNP, etc. will strengthen your skills.

General Intelligence SSC CHSL Preparation Tips

Another good scoring section of the exam, this too requires deep practise.

Avoid cramming shortcuts and focus on methods. Read the questions carefully as these are based on your general intelligence. 

Solve with the help of diagrams and logical assumptions. 

Run through the direction questions and paper folding which are very tricky and time-consuming.
