Be aware of the exam pattern and available time
Get yourself acquainted with the exam pattern, a total number of questions and the time provided to solve those questions. As per SSC CHSL exam pattern, you will get 60 minutes to solve 100 questions of 200 marks. To be precise, you will get 36 seconds for each question and if you also include a time of moving from one question to another, you will get only 30 seconds to solve each question.
Plan daily tasks
Instead of making broad plans with specific days assigned for different subjects, start planning daily tasks. Assign deadlines to yourself and try your best to meet the deadlines. To ensure that you give time to each subject every day, break your study hours in slots of 2-2 hours and take all subjects one by one.
Don’t leave revision for the last few days. Include at least 15-20 minutes for revision after completing each topic. It will help you get an idea of how well you have understood the topic and how many points you remember. It also saves your time and efforts during the final revision.
Make short notes
Develop a habit of making short notes while going through the topics. Notes help you save time and effort during revision, which you can use to solve mock tests. This habit helps you get all the important formula at one place and quickly revise them before going to bed every day.
Solve mock tests
To get ready for SSC CHSL online test, you should regularly solve mock tests. It helps you develop strategies for the exam day to solve maximum questions in the given time. You can understand the type of questions and the tricks required to solve them quickly and accurately.
Allot time for each section
To ensure that you don't waste even a single minute in the examination hall, you need to plan every second wisely. From reading the question paper to marking an answer and switching to the next question, you should calculate the time for every activity. Roughly, you can divide your time in a below-given way:
• 3 minutes to read the question paper
• 10 minutes for the English section
• 10 minutes for GA section
• 15 minutes for Quants section
• 15 minutes for Reasoning section
If you are not able to solve a question in 30 seconds, just switch to the next question instead of wasting time on that question.
Subject wise time management tips
Spend 2 minutes on going through the questions and utilize 8 minutes to answer them. Read the questions before reading the passage to solve questions quickly.
Go through the questions in 3 minutes and start with the questions that you feel you can answer correctly. Solve easy questions first from DI, Simplification, Quadratic Equations etc. and then move on to lengthy calculations.
Get an idea of the overall level of the questions with a quick look in 2 minutes. As the questions will be of 10+2 level, you will get an idea whether you know the answer or not. So quickly mark your answers without much thought.
This is one of the most time-consuming sections with tricky questions. So, if you are unable to answer a question in 10-15 seconds, simply skip it and move on to the next question.
