International Nurses Day: 12 May

 

12 May is observed as International Nurses Day all across the world to mark the contribution that nurses pay to the entire world.

This day is observed on the birth anniversary of Florance Nightingale.

In 1982, president Ronald Reagan signed a proclamation recognizing May 6 as National Recognition Day for Nurses.

May 6- May 12 is celebrated as Nurses Week every year.

It is the 200th birth anniversary of Florance Nightingale this year. She is also known as "The Lady With the Lamp" and regarded as the founder of modern nursing.

The theme for International Nurses Day 2020 is "Nursing the World to Health".

The COVID- 19 pandemic is a stark reminder of the vital role that nurses play in this world and do their job recklessly.
