SBI PO is one of the most in demand banking exams for which lakhs of students apply every year. In 2017, around 25 lakh students applied for the exam for nearly 2000 vacancies. Candidates strive hard to crack it in the first attempt to get their dream job. The exam is conducted in three stages: SBI Prelims, SBI Mains, and Interview. Students need to clear all three rounds to qualify in the selection process. SBI Prelims, which is also known as Phase I has only multiple choice questions. Candidates have to solve 100 questions in 1 hour. Those who meet the cutoff are selected for SBI Mains that includes an objective test of 200 marks and a descriptive test of 50 marks.
Indian Manned Space Flight Before 2022
The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) on August 28, 2018 unveiled the details of the Gaganyaan mission for manned space flight before 2022. The Gaganyaan mission was announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his 72nd Independence Day speech. ISRO Chairman, Dr K. Sivan said that the programme will make India the fourth nation in the world to launch a Human Spaceflight Mission after USA, Russia and China.
New Science and Technology Council to Advise PM
The Union Government has constituted a 21-member science and technology council to advise Prime Minister Narendra Modi on matters related to science, technology and innovations, and monitor the implementation of PM’s vision on the same. The council, called Prime Minister's Science Technology and Innovation Advisory Committee (PM-STIAC), will be headed by K Vijay Raghavan, the principal scientific adviser to the Union Government.
O-SMART Gets Union Cabinet's Nod
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs gave its approval for implementation of an umbrella scheme ‘Ocean Services, Technology, Observations, Resources Modelling and Science (O-SMART)’. The CCEA, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved the scheme for implementation during the period from 2017-18 to 2019-20 at an overall cost of Rs 1623 crore on August 29, 2018. The scheme covers a total of 16 sub-projects, which address ocean development activities such as services, technology, resources, observations and science.

RBI States that 99.3% Demonetised Currency Has Been Returned
Over 99 percent of the demonetized currency was returned, as per the Annual Report 2017-18 of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), released on August 29, 2018.
PM Launches India Post Payments Bank
Prime Minister, Narendra Modi launched the India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) at Talkatora Stadium in New Delhi on September 1, 2018. The initiative seeks to leverage the expansive network of the postal department to ensure financial inclusion for the masses. It will help significantly expand the reach of the banking sector in India.
Shipping Ministry Signs New Wage Agreement
The Shipping Ministry signed a new wage settlement agreement for Group C & D category of Port and Dock Workers in Mumbai, Maharashtra on August 30, 2018. The move will benefit around one lakh 35 thousand port and dock workers and pensioners in 12 major ports across the country. The agreement was signed by Shipping Ministry, port officials and workers federation in the presence of the Union Minister for Shipping, Nitin Gadkari.
National Mission on GeM to be launched in September 2018
The National Mission on Government e Marketplace (GeM) will be launched on September 5, 2018, to accelerate the adoption and use of GeM by major central ministries, state governments and their agencies. The main aim of the mission is to promote inclusiveness, transparency and efficiency in public procurement and achieve cashless, contactless and paperless transaction.
Loan Agreement with World Bank
The Union Government and World Bank signed a $220 million loan agreement and an $80 million guarantee agreement for the India Energy Efficiency Scale-Up programme, on August 28, 2018. The agreement was signed by Sameer Kumar Khare, Joint Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance and Hisham Abdo, Acting Country Director of World Bank India.
Petroleum Minister Launches Online Portal
The Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Dharmendra Pradhan launched an online portal to enable easy, efficient and transparent booking of common carrier capacity for natural gas transmission services under GAIL’s pipelines, on August 27, 2018. The portal will be the first step to facilitate gas trading on a hub or exchange-traded platform in India.
FAME India Phase II Launch in September 2018
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the second phase of the FAME India scheme on September 7, 2018. The scheme which will be unveiled at the inaugural session of 'MOVE' – the global mobility summit, offers incentives for mass adoption of electric vehicles with an outlay of Rs 5,500 crore.

The Railway Recruitment Board(RRB) has released the exam pattern and section wise marks for the upcoming RRB Group D recruitment exam. The exam will be held against CEN 02/2018 on September 17, 2018. Also, according to the notification, the candidates appearing for the exam will undergo a computer based test(CBT).
Notice on Section Wise Marks for RRB Group D:
The Group D Recruitment exam will be consisting of 100 questions divided in 4 sections. Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Science and General Awareness and Current Affairs are the 4 sections. The total duration for the exam will be 90 mins. However, for the PWD candidates, the total duration will by 120 minutes accompanied with scribe.
RRB Group D Exam Pattern and Section-Wise Marks:
Section 1 – Mathematics – 25 Questions
Section 2 – General Intelligence and Reasoning – 30 Questions
Section 3 – General Science – 25 Questions
Section 4 – General Awareness and Current Affairs – 20 Questions
However, there might be some variations in the actual question paper as the provided section wise distribution is indicative.
