Indian Air Force conducts Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT ) to recruit Men and Women to Indian Air Force as Commissioned Officers in Flying, Technical and Ground Duty branches. The test is conducted twice a year in February and August/September. Notifications inviting applications for AFCAT are out in June and December. For all entries other than NDA and CDSE and for all branches, candidates have to undergo the AFCAT. The test is conducted all across India by the Indian Air Force.

 

Eligibility Criteria

1) Flying Branch

  • Education: Graduation (min 3 years) in any discipline with min 60% marks and have passed Maths and Physics as subject at 10+2 level OR B.E/ B.Tech from a recognized University with min 60% marks.

  • Age Limit: 20 to 24 years as on 01.07.2017 (born between 02.07.1993 to 01.07.1997 including both dates). Upper age limit for candidates holding valid and Current Commercial Pilot License issued by DGCA (India) is relaxed up to 26 years i.e. born between 02.07.1991 to 01.07.1997 (both dates inclusive).

  • Min Height: 162.5 cms with correlated weight

  • Min Vision: 6/6 in one eye and 6/9 in other

2) Technical Branch

  • Education: Four year degree qualification or have cleared Sections A and B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India with 60% marks

  • Age Limit: 20 to 26 years on 01.07.2017 (born between 02.07.1991 to 01.07.1997 including both dates)

  • Min Height: 157.5 cms with correlated weight, women – 152 cms

3) Ground Duty Branch

  • Education: Graduate degree (Min 3 years) in any discipline with min 60% marks or equivalent or cleared section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India with a min of 60% marks or equivalent. for Administration and Logistics posts. B.Com (Min 3 years) with min 60% marks for Accounts posts. MBA / MCA or MA / M Sc degree in English / Physics / Mathematics / Chemistry / Statistics / International relations / International studies / Defence studies / Psychology / Computer Science / IT / Management / Mass Communication / Journalism / Public Relation with minimum of 50% marks in aggregate all paper put together in Post Graduation (Minimum two year programme) and 60% marks in graduation for Education posts

  • Age Limit: 20 to 26 years on 01.07.2017 (born between 02.07.1991 to 01.07.1997 including both dates)

  • Min Height: 157.5 cms with correlated weight, women – 152 cms

* Candidates, who have failed the PABT test earlier, are not eligible for this exam.

* Final year students can also apply for AFCAT 2016 exam given that they have secured 60% marks in aggregate with no present backlog and must be able to provide provisional or original degree certificate before commencing the training (July 2017).

 

How to Apply

  1. Open the official website of Indian Air Force i.e careerairforce.nic.in
  2. Find the link “Candidate login”
  3. Select “AFCAT Entry”
  4. Click on the option “New Candidate”
  5. Fill up the specified fields with relevant details.
  6. Once the registration process gets completed, a user ID and password will be sent to the candidate’s registered email ID.
  7. Now “login for online application” by using the same user ID and password.
  8. Fill up the application form along with requisite details and upload your thumb impression, recent passport size photograph and signature.
  9. After completion of filling up process of the application form take a print out for the same.
  10. Once the application process gets completed, you’ll receive a registered ID to your mail.

  4. General Awareness: History, Sports, Geography, Environment, Culture, Current Affairs, Politics, Civics, Basic Sciences, Defence, Art etc.
