IBPS - RRB

IBPS is the acronym for Institute of Banking Personnel Selection, which is the the apex body for recruitment, promotion and placement services in Indian public sector undertaking (PSU) banks. Founded in 1975 as a unit of National Institute of Bank Management (NIBM), it became an autonomous body in 1984  at the behest of Reserve Bank of India (RBI).

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Candidates, intending to apply for IBPS - RRB should ensure that they fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria specified by IBPS.

I. Nationality / Citizenship:

A candidate must be either -

(i) a Citizen of India or

(ii) a subject of Nepal or

(iii) a subject of Bhutan or

(iv) a Tibetan Refugee who came over to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India or

(v) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India, provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii), (iii), (iv) & (v) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.

II. Age (As on July 01, 2017):

  • For Officer Scale- III (Senior Manager)- Above 21 years - Below 40 years i.e. candidatesshould not have been born earlier than 03.07.1977 and later than 30.06.1996 (both dates inclusive)
  • For Officer Scale- II (Manager)- Above 21 years - Below 32 years i.e. candidatesshould not have been born earlier than 03.07.1985 and later than 30.06.1996 (both dates inclusive)
  • For Officer Scale- I (Assistant Manager)- Above 18 years - Below 30 years i.e. candidates should not have been born earlier than 03.07.1987 and later than 30.06.1999 (both dates inclusive)
  • For Office Assistant (Multipurpose) - Between 18 years and 28 years i.e. candidates should have not been born earlier than 02.07.1989 and later than 01.07.1999 (both dates inclusive)

4b Ex-Servicemen, Commissioned Officers including Emergency Commissioned Officers (ECOs)/ Short Service Commissioned Officers (SSCOs) who have rendered at least 5 years military service and have been released on completion of assignment (including those whose assignment is due to be completed within one year from the last date of receipt of application) otherwise than by way of dismissal or discharge on account of misconduct or inefficiency or physical disability attributable to military service or invalidment (for the post of Officers) 5 years
5 Widows, Divorced women and women legally separated from their husbands who have not remarried (only for the post of Office Assistant (Multipurpose)) 9 years
6 Persons ordinarily domiciled in the state of Jammu & Kashmir during the period January 01, 1980 to December 31, 1989 5 years
7 Persons affected by 1984 riots 5 years

 

HOW TO APPLY 

A candidate can apply for the Post of Office Assistant (Multipurpose) and can also apply for the Post of Officer. However a candidate can apply for only one post in officer’s cadre i.e. for Officer Scale-I or Scale-II or Scale-III.

  • Candidates have to apply separately and pay fees / intimation charges separately for each post.
  • Candidates can apply online only from 24.07.2017 to 14.08.2017 and no other mode of application will be accepted.

Officer (Scale I, II & III)

  •  Rs. 100/- for SC/ST/PWD candidates.
  •  Rs. 600/- for all others

IBPS RRB syllabus is split into the following sections:

  1. English language – questions from the language and skills of reading, writing
  2. Quantitative aptitude – Maths of class X level such as Number Systems, Profit & loss, Work time & distance, Data Interpretation etc.
  3. Reasoning Ability – logical reasoning questions (verbal and non-verbal)
  4. Computer knowledge – general knowledge of hardware, software, networking, Internet
  5. General/Economy/Banking Awareness – general knowledge and current events

* Candidates (for both posts) have to qualify in both the tests by securing minimum cut-off marks . Adequate number of candidates in each category, depending upon requirements, will be shortlisted for Online Main Examination.
